As I mentioned in my last post, there is more to Iowa than people think. Keosaqua and the Villages of Van Buren County are perfect examples of that. Today I took a drive down to a store called, “troublesome Creek Outfitters.” It is a great store with a lot of finds. I picked up a new knife, some fishing tackle for my BOB, and a pocket chain saw that comes in a little tin. I also gleaned a lot of information just talking to the owner. I am planning an overnight trip down to Shimek State Forest. If you get a chance to check out the Villages of Van Buren County it is well worth the drive. Lake Sugema is down there and has a 574-acre lake stocked with fish. It offers fishing, hunting, hiking, camping and other outdoor activities. This land has a conservation mindset. It was a wonderful day trip and I plan to spend much more time down there.
